EUROCONTROL, the European Organization for the Safety of Air Navigation, has chosen the technology service provider Cegeka to support their digital transformation. The organization for European air traffic control opts for innovation in technology and processes. The contract has been concluded for five years, and can be extended by 2 years. For the functional domain Airspace, they will collaborate with Thales, the global technology player in the area of Aerospace, Transport, Defense & Security.

André Knaepen, CEO of Cegeka: “The long-term partnership with EUROCONTROL shows that the Cegeka domain ‘Application Management Services’ is on a nice growth course. ‘Application Management Services’ ensures that a company can actually focus on its core business during its digital transformation, which includes benefits such as declining costs and increasing access to resources. ”

Eamonn Brennan, Director General at EUROCONTROL: “As the aviation sector will continue to grow strongly in the coming years, EUROCONTROL must ensure that it is up to date with the latest technologies in order to continue to offer the best possible service to its European aviation stakeholders. InnovDATA, consisting of Cegeka and Thales, will help us to achieve that with their services in the airspace domain and by supporting us in implementing new technologies that also generate real business value. ”

EUROCONTROL sought a partner to guide their digital transformation in two areas: In the first place, Cegeka focuses on technology and innovation. The initiation of the agile software development methodology is the first action item. But also IoT, Machine Learning, and Devops are on the list. Interestingly, there is room in the agreement to work on such innovative business cases, specifically tailored to EUROCONTROL. In this way, they can innovate the organization in depth.

The second aspect that EUROCONTROL wants to focus on is how they interact with stakeholders and customers, so that these relationships can be further optimized. The air traffic control organization is active in more than forty European countries. The organization wants to open its applications even better for all stakeholders active in those countries. For this aspect, Cegeka forms a partnership with Thales in the Innovdata consortium. Thales is a global technology player in the field of Aerospace, Transport, Defense & Security.
