International Drone Hero Europe 2016

Fleye has designed a whole new kind of commercial drone based on the ducted fan concept. This approach leads to a spherical flying machine where all moving parts are fully shielded, making the drone safe to fly nearby people and more robust to collisions. Laurent Eschenauer has a MSc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland and is an experienced software engineer having work for large organizations such as Vodafone and The Boston Consulting Group. He is now co-founder of CEO of Fleye, a startup based in Belgium developing a safe drone that differs from traditional multicopters.​

Innovative Drone Hero Europe 2016

In the CargoCopter project, speed, range and payload capacity of drones are optimized for high demanding applications such as emergency scenario’s. After graduating in 2012 as Master in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace, Bart is finishing his PhD at the KU Leuven Robotics group. His research focusses on improving the speed, range and payload capacity of multi-rotor UAVs. He kicked off the CargoCopter project in which this technology is demonstrated for autonomous aerial transportation of small packages.

DroneGrid’s vision is be the provider of choice of smart cloud based solutions for the drone industry by enabling unlimited autonomy, intelligence and range in commercial drones. ​Vishal Punamiya is co-founder of DroneGrid. Vishal brings several years of corporate (C-level) experience from the logistics industry from Panalpina and Deutsche Post DHL. He is passionate about innovation and has developed and launched turnkey solutions used within the industry.

High Potential Drone Hero Europe 2016

IDRONECT is the software platform connecting all partners in drone management: operators, pilots, schools, portals and authorities. Today, IDRONECT is the only digital solution for the mandatory administration, risk analysis, safety management and flight planning of drone flights in Belgium that is fully operational. In the months to come, we want to finetune our features, broaden our scope through strategic partnerships, and kick off our internationalization.

Roeland Pelgrims is the CMO of Idronect. Roeland has a MBA of Vlerick Business School and degrees in linguistics, law & communications psychology. Having launched his first company at the age of 21, he has extensive experience as a consultant, entrepreneur and manager. As a guest lecturer at Vlerick Business School he is a start-up passionate with a focus on general management, entrepreneurship, strategy, sales, marketing & branding.

Public Drone Hero Europe 2016

Aetos Drones, a member of Group Maes, wants to improve the inspection methods for the growing number of windturbines. We want to develop an automated flightplan for windturbine with an automated damage recognition as a result. In this way we can take over the inspections by a UAV and keep our aerial platforms for the reparations of the blades.

Lieve was business unit manager elektro at Maes Elektro (2000-2009). Since 2015 she is business unit manager at Aetos Drones.

I’m passionate about online communications, public relations and totally obsessed with video, photography, technology and drones.
